Prior to joining Ridgeway, Chris was the founding Head of Online at BBC World Service and spent 12 years as the Chief Executive of BBC Monitoring, the BBC’s open-source media monitoring division. Chris has also served as the Director at a geopolitical risk consultancy, as well as an academic visitor at Reuters’ Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford.

Chris is currently an independent member of the Science Council’s Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, where he was previously a Trustee. He is also a member of the British Council’s Digital Advisory Group and a Parish Councillor.

Chris holds an MA from the University of Oxford in Metallurgy and the Science of Materials, and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Southampton. He was a research scientist for a decade at the UK Atomic Energy Authority’s Harwell Laboratory.
