After graduating in Economics from the University of Cambridge, Nick worked for 29 years at BP. He served as Group Adviser and General Vice-President for Strategy and Policy Development before retiring in 2006.

Nick worked in Number 10 as Senior Policy Adviser to Prime Minister Gordon Brown and was subsequently appointed as the founding Chair of the Policy Institute, King’s College London.

He has served on the International Advisory Board of Yale University, as a Trustee of Asia House and as Chair of the Centre for European Reform.

Nick is an energy commentator for the Financial Times as well as several other publications.
