Here are some of the ways that Ridgeway is working towards having a positive impact.

Gender Champions in Nuclear Policy

Ridgeway is actively involved in Gender Champions in Nuclear Policy, a leadership network committed to gender equality. We are proud to have supported the network since its inception in 2018.

As part of our involvement, we attend quarterly meetings, share industry knowledge and actively promote the initiative. We also must set and meet three annual pledges:

  1. Apply gender-blind recruitment for the nuclear non-proliferation assistant researcher programme;
  2. All members of staff commit to the Panel Parity Pledge when speaking on Ridgeway’s behalf;
  3. Provide bias training for all staff.

In 2019 we met our first goal of trialling and implementing gender-blind recruitment. We now de-gender all applications and are continuously working to improve our recruitment process to ensure it promotes gender equality.

London Living Wage

Ridgeway has paid at least the London Living Wage for some time and is officially registered as a London Living Wage Employer.

The London Living Wage is an hourly rate of pay, currently set at £10.75. It is calculated independently to reflect the high cost of living in the capital, giving a worker in London and their family enough to afford the essentials and to save. The London Living Wage is higher than what employers are required to pay by law and is actively championed by the Mayor of London.

All of our staff are important to us, from our cleaners to our suppliers, our assistant researchers to our senior leadership team. We are proud to be a London Living Wage Employer.


In June 2020, Women of Color Advancing Peace and Security (WCAPS) led a unified response from the security community following the death of George Floyd.

We were proud to sign their statement ‘Standing Together Against Racism and Discrimination’:

Britain’s relationship with race and racism is far from a neat narrative with a happy resolution. We mourn the loss of countless Black lives at the hands of systemic injustices in the United States. In the United Kingdom, our own systems of policing, imprisonment and justice have failed Eric Garner, Jimmy Mubenga, Rashan Charles, Edson Da Costa, Sarah Reed, and far too many others.

We have more to learn, more to act on and most importantly, more to listen to. The onus is on us to act. We remain committed to working on being better allies. We stand in solidarity with all those fighting against injustice.

Small business awards

Ridgeway is an alum of the Mayor of London small business scheme and the British Library ‘Innovating for Growth’ programme. We continue to participate in the alumni networks for both programmes, which support innovative small businesses in London to develop and expand.
